2D and 3D
Animation Procedures
1. Sign up for a three- or four-hour session (sessions can be reserved one day in advance and on a first-come, first-served
basis).
2. If you are bringing data to work with, it must be on
a CD (no Internet downloads).
3. Pick up a work slip when you check in for your session.
4. Finish editing your animation and be sure it meets the
following constraints:
a. NO RAY TRACING!
b. Render NO larger than 320 square pixels wide by 240 square
pixels high.
c. Animation must be less than 20 seconds at equal to or
less than 15 frames per second.
d. No more than 20 lights per scene.
e. No more than six particle emitters per scene if you're using 3D
dynamic effects.
5. Save the
file, using the unique number on your work slip, as #.(file
type extension) and submit a work slip for Animation CD or
Animation Flipbook to be approved by Studio Staff prior to
output.
6. Ask a Studio staff technician to validate the file and
submit the digital file to the animation print queue.
7. Leave the submission part of the work slip with the technician
and keep the receipt part.
8. Later (probably the next day), pick up your output at the
information area near The Studio entrance (you will need to
present your receipt).
9. If you would like to apply animation techniques to
generation of a 3D rapid prototype for output, please
refer to 3D.
10. If you would like to produce high-resolution output for large-format printing in the 2D Area, a technician must
approve your work for rendering constraints, and subsequent
to approval, Studio staff will provide you with a CD of your
data. (Please refer to 2D for output from CD).
Note that The Studio is not a production house, but we will
make our best effort to realize your work.
